1581 Willie A Bryan apparently died in 1890 according to his headstone. However, the 1900 census shows him as living with his parents and siblings. There are no other records to clear the discrepancy. The 1910 census at Fort Oglethorpe may be a different person. BRYAN, William A "Willie" (I12852)

Reverend Jennis M. McLamb, age 91, of Little River, S.C., passed into the presence of Jesus on New Year's Eve at home. Reverend McLamb was born at Shallotte, N.C., on February 17, 1913. He was the son of the late William Henry and Ella Hardwick McLamb. He is survived by his second wife, Mary Loraine Jenrette McKeithan McLamb. They had 14 wonderful years together. Reverend McLamb was preceded in death by his first wife, Carrie Neil Hughes of Ash, N.C., and his only brother, Lloyd McLamb, of Florida. God blessed his first marriage with 4 sons: Redell McLamb and wife Edna of Shallotte, N.C.; Thomas McLamb and wife Mary of Hampstead, N.C.; Wilbur McLamb and wife Bobbie of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and Richard McLamb and wife Glynda of White Oak, N.C.; also 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, 1 step son, Ken McKeithan and wife Carolyn, of Boiling Spring Lakes, NC; 2 step granddaughters; 1 step great-granddaughter.

During his first marriage, he accepted God's call to the Ministry. From l948 until 1978, he served many churches in North and South Carolina. God blessed both marriages and his ministry and now this Scripture is fulfilled. Second Timothy 4:6-8, "I am now ready to be offered, the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Now there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the Righteous Judge, shall give me at that day, and not to me only, but unto all them that love His appearing."

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 2nd in the Beulah Baptist Church at Hickmans Crossroads, NC, by the Rev. Dr. Dan Bennett and the Rev. Leyland Barnes.

Burial will follow in the Manley Bennett Cemetery.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and at other times from the residence.

Pallbearers are Mike McLamb, Chris Leonard, Henry Bennett, Tommy Skipper and D. L. Little. Honorary Pallbearers are Eddie Bennett, Randy Hardee, Jessie Stevens.

1583 WILMINGTON -- Mary Catherine Benton, age 81, of Wilmington, passed away on Sunday October 24, 2010 at her home.

Mary was born on September 9, 1929 in Ash, NC, daughter of the late Leila Bell Puckett and James Caswell Carlyle.

Mary was a member of Spring View PFWB Church. She was the co-owner and operator of Benton Appliance and Furniture Company and the owner of Benton Realty. She was a member of the National Association and Wilmington Board of Realtors and a former member of Wally Byam Airstream Travel Club.

Including her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Guy Addison Benton.

Mary is survived by her son; Edwin Benton and Joyce (wife) and her daughter; Deborah Bell, four grand children; McKenzie Bell, Michael Benton (Rachel), David Benton (Sherry), Sarah Butler (Brian), and two great grandchildren; Kimberly and Benjamin Benton, and nephews; Thomas Carlyle and Bill Bullard.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 27, 2010 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Home, 3915 Oleander Drive, Wilmington NC.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday October 28, 2010 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Oleander Chapel with Rev. Danny Helms, Rev. Billy Carlyle and Rev. Lester Hunter officiating, with family to serve as pallbearers. A graveside service will follow at the Oakdale Cemetery in Wilmington.

Doris Patterson Varnam, 79, formerly of Leonard Road, Supply, NC, went home to be with the Lord Monday, October 16, 2006.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, on June 18, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Anna Florence Blanchard Patterson. She was predeceased by her husband, Norlee Varnam, and a brother, Fred Patterson.

Surviving are a daughter, Pamela V. Bates, husband Michael, of Supply, NC; a son, Robert Varnam, wife Karen, of Scottsdale, AZ; one sister, Barbara Ann Cortez, husband Steve, of Leland, NC; five grandchildren, Charity Jones, husband Scott, of Cary NC, David Varnam, wife Jessica, Michael Varnam, and Matthew Varnam, all of Riverside, CA, and Holly Bates of Supply; two great-grandchildren, Morgan Jones and Abrianna Bates; sister-in-law, Alma Patterson, of Truth of Consequences, NM; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be conducted Friday, October 20, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. in the Faith Baptist Church, Bolivia, NC. Burial will be private in the Sabbath Home Baptist Church Cemetery.
