Master Sergeant Nesmith was a crewmember aboard U.S. Army Air Corps B-29-60-BW Superfortress #44-69748. Shot down by AAA while on mission to the Mitsubishi aircraft engine works and crashed in Nakashinden Yatom-chi, Nagoya, Japan, with the loss of all eleven crew. With the 9th Bomb Group, 1st Bomb Squadron.
